Victoria’s Champion First Season Sire (2016/17) SQUAMOSA has sired his 12th individual winner for the season via FAMOOSA on Saturday.
The Shane Nichols trained three-year-old filly broke through over the 1100 metre sprint trip, with Clayton Douglas in the saddle.

FAMOOSA (pictured) is out of the Volksraad mare, FAYING (NZ), and was bred by Victorian based breeder, Peter Robinson.
Meanwhile, stakes performing SQUAMOSA filly DERASA put in an enormous effort from barrier 16 at Caulfield.

Tasmania’s best sprinting filly was forced to work from the outside gate and was only nabbed in the closing stages to place third (beaten 0.3L) over 1100m at her Caulfield debut.

The Barry Campbell trained three-year-old will head back to the Apple Isle and be set for the big Tassie sprints in the new season.

SQUAMOSA has twelve individual winners and has the best average earnings index of the second season sires in his home state of Victoria.
