DEBUT 2YO WIN FOR SQUAMOSA FLYER

Two-year-old SQUAMOSA debutant LUCAND LAD has recorded a stylish victory over 1100m at Gosford on Tuesday.

The flashy juvenile is trained by the Waterhouse & Bott combination and was piloted by leading hoop, Tim Clark.

LUCAND LAD sat outside the leader – the stakes placed, Invincible Lad – and duly put that galloper away 100 metres from home, before withstanding the late burst of fellow first starter, Bride Of Vengeance. The placegetters cleared away, with five lengths to fourth, in what should prove to be a good form race.

The speedy chestnut gelding is out of the Lonhro mare, Lucand Star, and was bred by Andrew Bolton, NSW.

SQUAMOSA was crowned Champion Victorian First Season Sire (2016/17) and has 13 winners from just 32 runners in his second season.
